Short Films Wanted!!!

Hi all...
My name is Jo and I'm the Manager of a Youth Arts organisation in Townsville, North Queensland (Australia) called The Lab. We work with young (and not so young!!) people in the areas of music, video, filmmaking etc. Once a month we hold an event called Filmania, where we show short films from around town, the state, the country and the world! It's a laid back event which is growing in popularity every month. Last month we had over 100 people attend, not bad for an event that started a year ago with about 8 people!!
We're always on the lookout for short films to show at our event and this is where you come in!! If you're interested in having your films reach a much wider and appreciative nth qld audience, then we'd love to screen them! As The Lab is a non-profit community organisation, we can't pay you for your films, but we can help with postage if required.
We've exhausted our supply of locally made films and have had to broaden our search for shorts. We've made some excellent contacts in the US with indie filmmakers there and have shown many of their films at previous events.

Any genre, style etc is fine. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece at all, in fact we encourage amateur and indie type films, ones you might have made at school or college or whatever. Any format is fine - VHS, DVD or miniDV etc.

Anyone have any objections if we send across the Exposure Shorts Volume 3 DVD (once its complete: April/May)?

I say do it.

I even have copies of vol1 and vol2 I could send over.

Although we never signed anything, the gentleman's agreement is that we can distribute it any which way so long as the contents of the disc remain intact.

Hi Guys
Read your responses to my post and must say, I got very excited to read that you may have an entire DVD of shorts for us.... And then I read on and saw that there's 3 volumes!! Just wanted to let you know that we're most interested in showcasing the work of short film makers from all over the world at our event, in the hope of inspiring others in our audience to have a go, but also giving all filmmakers a bit of exposure. Look forward to hearing from you soon and hope the consensus is to send us your volume/s of Exposure Shorts.

I have a couple of films, but the only problem is that they have copywritten music in them. Is that a problem?

yeah, i'm not sure what the consensus is.

unless someone objects i'll get vol1 (CD-R of MPEG1) and vol2 (set-top playable DVD-R) duped and sent over. hopefully i'll be able to get the mailroom at work to send it [img]smile.gif[/img]

Also I'd advise reviewing the material on each volume, just to be sure the content is suitable for your intended audience (I don't think much swearing and nudity ;-)

JadeFalco, we have ways around copyright issues if you'd like to send your films to us...
And Miker, we always preview the shorts for that exact reason, after a particularly nasty film one night that we hadn't looked at and caught us unawares!!!!

Do you know who Norwood Cheek is? He was in Austrailia showcasing super-8 films that were made in the U.S.

He may still be down there.
